Nobody wants or reads them anyway. When people complain I suggest they are useful for kindling.

It's called nesting and the business doesn't like it because the businesses paying for D2D don't like it and since the businesses pay our business who pays us we really shouldn't be doing it and there isn't really much of an argument you can put up if a managers says don't do it.

Do you deliver door to doors that you have no mail for that day? Yesterday being a typical busy Wednesday I didn't post just 2 door to doors as I had no mail for those houses. When my P&L partner saw I hadn't posted them he said he was going to tell the manager because the people of the house may be wondering where they are(?) I was always told if you don't have any mail for a particular house don't take the D2D's especially if it's a busy day for mail. I can't believe either anyone would miss a D2D, most customers don't want them and moan when you deliver them.

One of the reasons to do your D2D 1/6th every day, even to houses that don't have any mail is to increase your call rate.
This makes the duty longer and decreases the possibility of lapsing/increases the possibility of overtime for someone.

If you don't do them to every house on the designated day, how do you know which house didn't get them where you have double slots?

A bit OTT wanting to report you. As long as you do the D2D at the end of the week... Just the odd few is not that much of a big deal and if you are on the same round till saturday then I think it is OK.

However, as a Reserve, I try to do all the D2Ds for the round I am covering unless the walkholder has left some in the frame then I will leave some too... Furthermore, I always take all the double slots d2ds, same for flats and letter boxes in a row or similar...

But I agree with clash, we should stop trying to do the job quickly and just make RM pay for all the hours we do using the proper equipment and following the Plan (from planners e.g 6 loops and LWT instead of breaking loops down and driving around like a loon). This will save job or even create more jobs.

We have a D2D once every 3 months that contains vouchers for local shops.
When they first came out customers who didn't receive them (and some who did) took to Facebook in significant numbers to complain. It resulted in Royal Mail having to refund the entire cost of the D2D delivery along with printing costs to the customer (rumoured to be around £20k). Royal Mail then went looking for someone to blame and without going into details several posties were lucky to keep their jobs.
Never underestimate the customer's ability to find something to complain about.

We also have assessors on some delivery patches and in a number of occasions we have had to deliver D2Ds to proprietors of businesses doling out the D2Ds.

I also make sure I deliver D2Ds to posties on my round even if they say they do not want them - they can come and take them out of the frame, if they want.

If there's no post for that day then I'll wait until the end of the week when it's quiet and do them then.

The last few weeks i've been given the same round for the whole week. I normally take out all the D2D for that day but the last 2 weeks the person doing the round tuesday only takes ones with mail. Basically leaving me with double on wednesday. This week i put them all in monday, took 80% of them out and by thursdays day i only had a handful left and.

If i was on the walk all week and worked monday/tuesday i would just do 50% monday, then the rest Tuesday. Makes the day longer but since i'm only PT it would work for me.
