Statutary Sick Pay

Hi

Im currently on the sick due to a nasty on my index finger resulting in an operation to repair the nerve in my finger and have been given a sick note for 12 days which runs out the day I get the splint and cast removed. Ive been informed by office managers that I dont qualify for occupational sick pay so I was wondering if anybody knew what the crack is with Statutary Sick Pay, whether it is paid automatically or if I have to apply for it by some means?

you should receive £ 86.70 per week SSP after your 4th day of absence the first 3 working day not countable. Your employer should pay this so there must be some reason for them stating that you don't qualify which you have not made clear. If they are not paying SSP then you can ask for a form SSP1 so you can apply for a sick pay allowance from the goverment

Sorry in previous post should have read form SSP1 gives you an alternative failing non-payment of SSP by your employer and becomes ESA ( Employment Support Allowance)

It was occupational sick which I dont qualify for, which im guessing is the sick pay that is paid by royal mail and seeing as I have only been with the company since November then I must not have been here long enough yo qualify. So therefore im under the impression that statutary sick pay is wat is paid by the goverment and so I will hopefully be entitled to this.

I will see what my payslip says on friday and see if this has been paid automatically or not.
