Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
Two park & Loop teams in my office are taking the Mick on Saturday's they are coming in early putting all next weeks door to doors together and delivering the lot on a Saturday then they have the cheek to leave all their larger packets in so the firms van drivers has to deliver their packets. This is surely some form of wilful delay? reason is they finish early all week then gloating to others "we done our door to doors already" managers are not seeing this plus the fact the door to doors are not contracted to go out till the Monday. No door to doors should be put at the frames till after everyone is gone out on Saturday!

My suggestion is to ignore what they are doing. Yes its wrong but eventually they will be caught and if they are doing as you suggest they will probably be suspended and perhaps even dismissed. Sometimes you have to forget what others are doing and let them hoist their own petard.

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
I know it is the standard response not to tell tales and ignore what others are doing.. However, what if what they are doing impacts on you?
For example, the postie that covered the walk I am supposed to be on tomorrow did not complete the d2ds with his delivery instead he has come in later to put the d2ds in for me and my partner to complete along with ours tomorrow?
I am well annoyed as the postie had some much time to have done the task correctly - he left at least 45 minutes before me and it was a relative quite day...
What to do? I am not a grass but I am not pleased as these sort of posties do these sort of things time and time again. I am not directly on the walk but double prepping - so I have a frame that is almost chucker with d2ds and many double slots for mondays and tuesday.
I might advice my partner to just take 'all' the tuesday d2ds and leave all the monday d2ds intact - for the manager and the next cover to see.

Just take them out of the frame and do what you are supposed to do, frames are supposed to be clear at the end of the day I thought?chrisj wrote:I know it is the standard response not to tell tales and ignore what others are doing.. However, what if what they are doing impacts on you?

Its not your problem if they don't all get delivered, you've done your 1/6, why give consideration for someone who has obviously given none to you.
Its not you that's going to have to explain at the end of the week why all the D2Ds were n't delivered, as you have completed your designated amount, they are trying it on and will continue to do so if you let them. Enjoy your night and don't give it any more thought because it does n't warrant any.....

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
Thanks for reply. The thing is that the person will likely get away with it as the managers do not monitor such things.
Tuesdays D2DS have been put in by the manager or PHG as I am working with a 27/5 hours postie (standard).
Although, we had some monitoring so many months back where the manager or PHG will fill out a blue card highlighting what has not been done or left in the frame.
No bother! The same bloke will probably leave the van in the office instead of taking it to the multi-storey car park... And this is one of the posties I get on with it

Park and Loop doesn't make any difference. If you think you can't complete you tell your manager and let him decide what to do. If he says leave your packets, you leave your packets.kewell wrote:Don't understand how they can leave their packets if they are on park & loop.

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
I'm not one to grass and don't intend to but we take all our packets on a daily basis but when you get people leaving their packets to accommodate for door to doors especially on Saturday and still get back a hour in front of me and my partner its a joke.
Up to four walks in my office leaves packets in everyday but their flying on a Saturday if Villa or Brum are on TV the manager needs to detain them till their contracted hours are up they might think twice then.
We were told its not job and finish anymore is this right?

But having a Van and Park & Loop is essentially to accommodate the increase in packets - we are now a 'packet company', after all.
Unless at Xmas, it will have to be a horrendous day for packets for a pair not to take their packets.
Yes, park and loop partners can still cut off by how come it was the packets that were left - and why were they being done by the Firms driver? Something about the set up - most firm drivers will have kicked up a fuss delivering for posties that end up finishing early...

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
I can only go off what happens in my office. The new Van Share duties were so badly planned that they only complete with no overtime on an easy Monday or Tuesday. Most people have changed to duties around themselves to make it quicker and/or to make smaller loops that don't require use of a trolley. Some people who don't want to do overtime get hold of the manager and ask what he want's them to do - leave streets, villages, whatever, to enable them to finish on time. It seems his choice is to say 'leave your packets', as he can get people to do them. Who these people are makes no odds, firms, managers, reserves, whatever. If he can't get these packets delivered, it seems he'd rather leave them undelivered than leave a few streets worth of letters.chrisj wrote:But having a Van and Park & Loop is essentially to accommodate the increase in packets - we are now a 'packet company', after all.

Having said that, nobody would dare dream of finishing early if they left anything behind.

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
They please themselves in my office Chris by taking tracked and re-delivery's then its a "Ain't got time to do the packets" (Manager falls for it) The firms drivers has to do who leaves the packets and as most firms are shut Saturdays that gives the firm drivers time in their duty. But while the firm drivers are still out at 1 30pm delivering the packets the Park & Loop pair are at home as is the managers so nobody sees the script.chrisj wrote:But having a Van and Park & Loop is essentially to accommodate the increase in packets - we are now a 'packet company', after all.

Re: Wilful Delaying on Saturday's
Good point about the Firms drivers having less to do on Saturdays but ours do not extras for posties in P&L but they do extra collections and maybe a bit of the work of the twilight guy (HCT packets) - maybe?
But they are the one of most senior (2) in the office and they will not take any nonsense from posties and/or managers

Packets are only a USO product Monday to Friday, therefore leaving them in on a Saturday is not willful delay. Door to door's are a Monday to Saturday product, they therefore take greater precedence on a Saturday, (just not if they are up to a week early).

But only if you are authorised to leave them.Himaggen wrote:Packets are only a USO product Monday to Friday, therefore leaving them in on a Saturday is not willful delay. You can't make the decision yourself.
