Paternity Leave

Post by Daz_King »

Hi

I started working for the royal mail in November 2013 and my wife is due to have our baby in June 2014. Would anybody know how paternity leave would work for me, if I would be entitled to any at all and if not what would my options be for time off when the baby is born??

Cheers

It looks quite complicated I would contact either HR to get clarification, and if you are in the Union contact the Equalities officer at your branch office.

Thanks for the link .... by the sound of it because of the fact that I havent been with royal mail for long enough thrn I wont qualify for the paternity leave. I have managed to swap holidays with another postie at my office so I now have the week off starting 9th June and yhe baby is due 11th June however im worried incase the baby is late and has still not came by the time I return to work after this week off.
I know that I could possibly take unpaid leave however I want to try to avoid this if at all possible as with the birth of a new child I will kinda need the money that I would loose by taking unpaid leave.

I will speak to the management at my office and my union rep and see what my options are just wanted to get the advice off others who might have been in or know someone who has been in the same situation.

Thanks again
