How do you do it? Today my cars where soaked, and it was raining hard. It was impossible.

I have one waterproof pen for just these occasions (A Gift at xmas), the card still turns into paper mache though so not a proper solution. A small amount of plastic in the cards and a thin nibbed permanent marker might be a solution. Should I run that up the efficiency pillar.

You're totally right. When it's raining hard it IS impossible.

Never tried it myself but, write ones out for those you're pretty sure won't be in before leaving the office?

If we had cards with pull off sticky bar codes, post card through letter box and put sticky bar code on non delivered item and scan the number into system. The GPS could pick up location. Collection can be made after 5pm from return location on card. Did I say 5pm, better hide.

That's not a bad idea, actually. Don't bother suggesting it your WAM though, feed it up through the correct channels.

I think I'm going to start writing mine out before I go out as last time every single one of my pens stopped working.

In that situation I just tend to put the packet back into me bag and take it back for delivery the next day. If anyone wants to make anything of it, I just explain what a Dickhead they are try to enlighten them about what it's actually like "Outside" the office trying to deliver paper in Gale Force Winds with Torrential Rain!

Apart from the usual Management warnings (which I'm sure are only designed to prevent you from claiming if you have an accident) I have always been surprised that we don't have anything in place to help US during crap weather. At what point do you think enough is enough......I'll take this lot back and bring it out again tomorrow? All Management are concerned with is getting the mail out of the office. You bring any back and that's a different story!

I used to carry an "emergency pencil" for when all the pens failed lol unfortunately its gone missing so ile have to remember to get another lol...
Seriously tho writing the cards in the rain is a p.i.t.a completely soggy and barely able to write on them.

If it's really bad I write them in the van before I start the loop or if I'm delivering packets I just go back to the van and sit in there to write it.
I use bookies pens (4 on my delivery) for some reason they work in any weather, they never burst and because they're small you can keep about a dozen in your pocket.

And if caught you could be charged with wilful delay.
You cannot prove that you made the attempt to deliver, but if you are suspected of doing this, then a manager may 'mark' a parcel to check if it is delivered.
My DOM has done it.
It's dangerous ground.
