Hi there,
Am contracted as a Saturday only but have been doing extra days in the week as overtime.
I always write down my start and finish times in a notebook to compare against wageslip.
Can anyone confirm if it is true that if you are called in on overtime and you do a full walk that the minimum you get is 6 hrs?
Reason being is that I was finished an hour early and just wanted to clarify I am entitled to 6 hrs and not 5 as I started at half 8 and finished by 1.

It really depends on the office and manager...
Also it might depend on the day - long or short. And did the full walk involve you fully prepping and delivering the mail.
Did you take your full break or account for your full break as part of your finish time. And lastly did your manager know that you finished early and why did you let him know?
TBH, most managers will simply pay you for the full day (going rate) regardless of how long the job took you.
I do not think there is a minimum.
Before P&L in my office, a full round delivery on OT was paid at 6 hours - and that does not even have to involve prepping, if it was done in addition to doing one's own round. But manager's have cut it down now to about 4.5hours - we have actually been undercut by newish 27.5 hours part-timers desperate for the dough.

Usually there is a fixed rate for the round and you get paid that regardless of finishing time.
If the prep AND round is done, you get the rate specific to it, i.e. if the round-holder is 30 hrs per week you'd get 6 hours, if they were 32.5 hrs. you'd get 6 1/2.
There are actually a couple of 'flyers' in our office that have actually done a round this week, with a docket afterwards paying 2 or 2 1/2 hours and got it ALL done by their usual paid finishing time......
(Yes, getting paid 9 hours for a 6.5 hr. shift effectively.)

In our office 6 hours O/T for a walk with no prep, and 7.48 with prep no matter what day. Can be handy on a light day when you can get it done pretty quick, almost like getting double time!

Re: Overtime help please
In reality there are 2 positions on this.
The official one: With the P&M agreement from 2007 we work all our paid hours so if working on overtime you should only be paid what you work.
The Unofficial one: Its difficult for managers to cover walks and its up to you if you want to work it or not. If they won't offer what you want don't do it. If you do want to work it make sure both you and the manager know what the arrangement is and you have witnesses. However, even then as its unofficial it will be hard to do anything if they renege.

billy44, next time that manager asks you tell him/her to shove it up there arse!! you should really have agreed what hours you were getting paid before. Most managers these days would hang there own mother if it meant saving an hour on the overtime sheet.
