Can someone tell me/point me in the right direction for the correct procedure when on collections, ie where should keys and mail bag be carried ?

In relation to mail bag as soon as items are placed in it the mail bag should be placed in the rear of your van and van rear doors locked. Keys may be carried in cab in full view.rinky wrote:Can someone tell me/point me in the right direction for the correct procedure when on collections, ie where should keys and mail bag be carried ?

Put everything in the cab and drive the van like you stole it.

Mail can be left in a secured vehicle in the cab for up to 10 mins on delivery. So long as the mail is in a collection bag and the mail not left on view, I would have thought the same would apply. Would it not?

Not forgetting to only scan the box and not bother emptying it (changing day tab is optional as well) leave that for the mug on the second collection later/person doing it tomorrow, this can apply to SPOs as well if your a real arse..tansorboy wrote:Put everything in the cab and drive the van like you stole it.

Re: Correct collection procedure?
No mail is to be in the cab while on collection, we had (yet another) reminder about this in WTL the other week. Never seen anyone actually adhere to it though...Son Of God wrote:You sure on this?rehabron wrote:In relation to mail bag as soon as items are placed in it the mail bag should be placed in the rear of your van and van rear doors locked. How odd! What is the difference? Do your managers know we can actually leave mail up to 10 mins in a cab on delivery?Mr_Pink wrote:No mail is to be in the cab while on collection, we had (yet another) reminder about this in WTL the other week. Re: Correct collection procedure?
the only thing to travel up front with you should be your PDA (in the cradle) and your route card.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

^^ And even your PDA is supposed to be stored out of site when you're not in the van!

Re: Correct collection procedure?
Correct. (I did ask if that's the case, why not put the cradle in the load space?)wacko74 wrote:^^ And even your PDA is supposed to be stored out of site when you're not in the van!
NOTHING is to be left in view, in the cab, when you are away from the vehicle.
At no point should any collection mail be in the cab anyway, EVER.
Work from the load space. It's not hard.
It should be noted that IB do check on collection staff, and if you're caught with mail in the front, or having left a PDA/keys on display when away from the van, the Conduct Code will be used.
