Assuming you're eligible (are these surplus hours/have you been offered buydown) it will be 9 divided by 39 multiplied by whatever your particular redundancy package might be.

Your redundancy package will depend on your age as well as your length of service.

In my experience you'd be lucky to get paid anything. Normally RM will just let you stew (get more pissed off with the situation) and then you'd make the decision yourself. FOR FREE, costing them no cash....favourite ploy is to see if a PTer wants to swap duties/hours. :no no

In my DO there's a few posties "talking" about Buy Down. Quite amusing really because for years they've been getting paid 40 hours for basically a 33-35 hour contract (finishing early every day). Post Revision they've been give extra work (and to be honest are now just being asked to work a full day) and suddenly they don't want 39 hours work and want to Buy Down to a PT contract! Good news for anyone that wants to increase their contracts. :thumbup

I don't think anyone will have their contracted hours increased from now on.

Suppose it depends on your Office tpost. We all judge RM by what's happening in our own little world, but it's a big company. There's still offices out there that need new posties...even if yours hasn't had anyone leave for the last 100 years! :d'oh!

My DO's recently been been recruiting people on 30 hour contracts and a few of the PTers have been able to increase hours. I don't think this Business is going to be the same old RM with posties serving 20 years plus and new starters having to wait for "Dead Men's Shoes". I don't think people are going to be hanging around as long...the job is going down the pan and I think we're going to be looking at a faster turnover of the work force. The increased amount of physical work is effecting everyone and many nearby DOs are having trouble recruiting enough new posties. Perhaps the words got out that this isn't such an easy job anymore! :whistle
