If its a yes vote,dont blame the mail centre workers

I work in a mail centre,but previously worked on delivery.I can vouch for the fact that delivery staff have to work FAR HARDER,and that there is far more pressure on the postie then there is working in a mail centre.I for one will be voting NO because i have seen both sides of the fence and know how STRESSFUL a delivery job can be.But please lets get one thing straight,there have been a few individuals on these forums suggesting the mail centre workers will vote it in.This is nonsence,if every delivery man/woman votes NO it will be a NO vote.I genuinely dont know the figures but surely DELIVERY POSTMEN OUTNUMBER MAILCENTRE STAFF.The other fact should not be overlooked that we need every postie to vote,because a 50 percent turn out wont help get a NO vote,if they cant be arsed to cross the ballot paper.So please if its a yes vote[which unfortunately i think it will be]this will be just us much down to the fact,that a lot of posties voted YES or could not be bothered to vote,and not all down to the fact that a lot of mail centre workers voted it in.

It's easy for walkers to blame mail centre workers, the fact is that walkers outnumber mail centre workers, if not enough walkers can be bothered to vote, it's not the fault of the mail centre workers. People need to vote in which ever way they think will benefit them, and what is in there best interest, but once again large portions of the membership won't vote, then start moaning when RM implement the agreement, or the way RM interpret the agreement. So vote yes, vote no but what ever you do vote, don't sit on the fence and moan later.

My fence sitting has finished and I am a No voter. It the issues were separated I would have voted Yes on Pay and No on the agreement. On balance I feel that the issues in delivery were sidelined, and If this was the first time it had happened I would have given the Union the benefit of the doubt. However as some of the issues around BT2010 have been ignored, papered over, not addressed sufficiently or even made worse by some branches (based on posts on here), then I have no confidence in them being resolved under AFG2014.

Therefore my considered opinion is that the Union needs to readdress the concerns and issues in deliveries and the only chance we have of that happening is by voting "No".

Am I worried about the consequences of a No vote - Yes I am but at least it would force those in charge to focus the attention on where its needed.

I am also concerned by a Yes vote because as with BT2010 the reviews and promises of addressing the issues will lapse because the Union have legitimate and more pressing issues to concentrate on.

But on balance I think the risks of a Yes vote are more wide ranging and potentially more destructive than a No vote, even if RM have a fit of pique and remove all the legal guarantees and pay rises.

The legal guarantees, guarantee nothing, RM have a big get out clause and that is just the one that stares you in the face at first glance, probably few more hidden inn the detail, and as for no strike agreements, that get out clause will be waved like a red flag every time RM deviate from the agreement.

Like "villa465" i worked on delivery for 10 years albeit a while back
but i voted NO simply because i dont think it addresses the problems
in the delivery side of the job and i'm to long in the tooth to ever vote
for a no strike agreement,very few of my MC colleagues have let on
which way they voted or even if they voted so really cant give any
insight into how the other MCs will have voted if ours is anything to
go by.

Its happening in Deliveries as well.

No one group can be to blame, but despite assertions to the opposite I do see the size of the "did not vote" block to be at least an indication of the disconnect between members/branches, branches/hq and members/hq.

I work in deliveries but won't blame anybody if it is a yes vote,I have worked in Royal Mail through the big strike of 71and every time the union have asked for a strike vote ,we have answered the call.
This time I have voted against the union's recommendation but the majority of guys in my office have voted yes because of the financial side of the deal.
A lot of the people voting yes said that they could,nt see us getting a better deal so they are going for it which is up to them,I think the vote will be a lot closer than everybody thinks.
