The strict definition of term time working is exactly as it sounds. You only work during school terms and use a system of banking hours to make up the shortfall.rehabron wrote:can you explain term time working please
If for instance the school holidays were 12 weeks and you had 6 weeks annual leave a full-timer would need to bank another 6 weeks X 39 hrs or 234 hrs over the other 40 weeks of the year, slightly less than 6 hrs a week.

I can't see any reason why not since you won't be dropping your hours on the weeks you work.asap wrote:if i apply for 4 weeks and am lucky enough to get it would i still hold my full time duty ?
Assuming you're not looking to make up the shortfall in wages your term time working will simply operate like POAL where you'll be deducted 4 weeks wages spread over the whole year.
Although your yearly hours are reducing your weekly hours remain the same and I don't see anyone on POAL having to give up their duty.

Interesting, not likely to affect the Christmas bonus but the second allocation of shares in April?asap wrote:would it affect Christmas bonus or share issue
I never really thought about those who purchase annual leave as being less than full time but I suppose in a way averaged over the full year they are.
Since I think those guys received the full allocation of shares last time it would be difficult for RM to treat you any differently just because you might purchase more.
One for HR I would imagine, ask them whether your status would remain full-time or change to part-time.

I think you'd be safe enough regarding the next lot of shares, they were allocated based on weekly contracted hours ie. full time 39hrs = full amount of shares, this is RM we're talking about here so i reckon if you were on 39hrs week and got 51 weeks poal then you'd still get your full allowance of shares. (just a guess having experienced first hand how inept these twats are)
