Annual leave forms

Post by dubdaz »

Our annual leave forms were handed in last november and we still have not had them back.At our wtl with the DOM it was explained that the rep is in disagreemnt with what the dom wants to do about the leave situation.Basically we havent enough staff to cover the holidays owed. The staff told the DOM that we need to know when our A/L is so we can book our holidays, her reply was one word "TOUGH!".
Also those that purchase the extra weeks leave cant have their money back,if it cant be worked out it'll be carried over!
Never known my office to be so :mad

I would get the rep to point out this part of the way forward agreement to your dom:

Selection of annual leave

The objective will be as far as possible to maximise leave opportunities for employees, whilst ensuring that operational needs and the customer specification are met at all times. This agreement covers selection of full week leave and part week e.g. holidays staring mid-week. Single days leave will be agreed locally through the Staff Resourcing Manager in Mail Centres or the line manager in other operational units.

The leave year will be April to March. The Christmas pressure period, determined by the operational unit, will be a closed period for leave. The selection process should be complete by the end of the preceding October each year.

You manager cannot deny you taking the statutory right of 28 days a year annual holiday entitlement. Why is this even being allowed to happen?

Its going through the IR framework ie kicked into long grass, which obviously suits the DOM,but is somewhat of an inconvenience to the majority of the staff, but as she said "TOUGH". I can't wait till she asks me to go over, guess what my answers gonna be?
It beggars belief the DOMS are gonna change there attitude when the deal gets voted in and suddenly start being human.

It took a third party complaint to 'ask moira' before our leave got sorted.
