Give a Quid Day coincides with the launch of Prostate Cancer UK's new campaign, Men United v Prostate Cancer which aims to drive awareness of the disease and encourage people to do something about it. Royal Mail, with the backing of the CWU, is supporting the campaign by raising money on Give a Quid Day and pledges to match, pound for pound, whatever is donated.

The aim of this year's fundraising day is to smash the £40,000 raised on Give a Quid Day last year and with the handy new 'text to donate' service this aim should be all the more achievable.

Get involved:

1) Put money in the Give a Quid collection box: All sites across the UK will have a collection box for Give a Quid Day and you can simply make your donation directly into the box. Don't forget you can donate more than £1 if you wish. Every penny you donate will be matched by Royal Mail. So if you give a quid, Prostate Cancer gets £2.

2) Text* to donate: To make it easy for everyone to donate, a new text to donate service has been launched. You can donate to Prostate Cancer UK by texting the word QUID to 70660. 100% of every text donation will go to Prostate Cancer UK and will be matched pound for pound by the business. So, for every text, Prostate Cancer UK will receive £2.

Prostate cancer kills one man every hour and the number of men diagnosed with the disease is rising. While it is already the most common cancer in men, it is predicted to become the most common cancer of all in the UK by 2030. But availability of treatment and care can vary depending on where men live. The money will be used by Prostate Cancer UK to recruit and train specialist prostate cancer nurses.

By taking part in Give a Quid Day, you will be helping to make a huge difference to thousands of men's lives and their families.
