Mount Pleasant Sold for housing - Worrying ?

Royal mail has many prime sites with massive of amounts unused land which could be sold
to create Affordable housing and other projects. This could be used to create revenue for royal mail
and is a valuable asset for RMG. Put to good use this could be very beneficial and profitable.
Good for our share price as well.

There intention is to sell only half of the Mount Pleasant site, And Still keep the rest as a RMG site. Good
This will keep some jobs....

...But could a certain percentage of the Affordable housing be let to EU citizens (Migrants) in return for
cheaper labour at RMG

I have seen this type of practice before, When working in a Large retail chain 15 years ago. When
T*SCO Used to rent property for certain EU Migrants in return for Better cheaper labour.
They were very friendly and good workers, But Almost to good Could this happen ??? and even on more prime sites ?

I hope not. Why does the site have to be used for 'affordable housing'? Is this a caveat to get planning from the local authority? Why not use it for private flats and homes? Surely RM should be getting the most profitable deal.

I read this a while ago. The Mount must be the oldest RM office. Who would ever have thought they would close part of it.

It was always in the plan to sell off some of the mount. The Mount has two councils to deal with Camden and Islington and now Boris has got involved. The parts they want to sell is the bomb site car park and where the old CCS trucks were. They intend to build an under ground car park and it will still be an large site.

Whats the future for LMP? Do you think they will move some more work in there from MCs ie E1-20/SW1-20/SE1-28/W2-14 any one of these 4 could be feasible as all the MCs who are doing the work are at bursting point and there are rumopurs about Croydon and Gatwick merging.

That is a possibility as I think one of the proposed sites for a second runway at Gatwick covers where Gatwick MC is now

I've worked at three mail centres in and around London, am now at my fourth. Paddington, Nine Elms, Mount Pleasant and HWDC. At all, foreigners made up at least half of the workforce. I'm a foreigner myself. You don't need cheap flats to draw us in. We'll show up dependably and work hard all by ourselves.

Anyway, according to an article in October (http://www.islingtontribune.com/news/20 ... evelopment), only 20 percent of the 680 new flats will be "affordable." And I really, really doubt that definition will mean "for people making £6.15 an hour."

I had heard that and it is def a possibility but if that does happen it might affect JMC and Greenford MC at least.

There always has to be a percentage of 'affordable' housing in any new development.

Yes, you are right, part of Nu LieBore's 'social engineering' ethos. Luckily I live in an older private housing estate built before this neo-Marxist crap started. I have however, seen 10 miles away an area where this has happened. 275k homes slapped next to 'social' housing and a year later the hard-working people whom have purchased them in despair with unsaleable properties due to the behaviour and habits of many of those thrown in there. Good taxpaying people with lives destroyed by those whom they go out to work to support, via harassment, litter, vandalism, noise and robbery/burglary and other anti-social activities.
