Need some advice

Hi,
I started working as a postie over 2 months ago. I am employed on a 25 hour permanent contract. However, as soon as I started work they changed my hours to 27.5. They still haven't changed my contract though. I am like a spare tyre in the office. At first I was kept very busy and delivered mail all over the place.
Now though...something has changed. For the past two days I've been asked to come in at 12am and every time I do they tell me there's no work for me and they put me on the door-to-doors! I spend hours alone making up the door to doors and putting them in the frames. As far as I can tell it's just me this is happening to:( New people are starting and getting to go out on delivery, so I can't understand why there is suddenly no work for me!
Also, ever since I started, I have never had a rotational day off. The manager just picks whatever day suits him best. This means I am missing out on the long weekend that comes up every 6 weeks :(
Any advice would be helpful.

Just an opinion...

The change of hours to 27.5 is probably to fit in with whatever else is going shares van pairing and P&L. All our 24 hours posties were bumped up to 27.5 hours following our Revision... But I am sure they got paperwork soon after. Talk to manager or chat to Union Rep...

As for not being engaged - that is a hard one. I wonder why they have not sent you to another (nearby) office)? But doing D2Ds as a Reserve or doing cut offs or whatever is not a big issue. But why just you and the change of start time?

Some of these managers are a lord to themselves and the lack of communication or explanation does not help. Again, Union Rep - even if you have not joined yet.

ive worked in royal mail for 12 years. Never been able to sign for my own walk due to seniority.I get different days off every week,tue one week mon the next etc.Just the way it goes.

There's probably no walks for you to do, not many staff book annual leave this time of year, I work in an office of 200 and only 7 are off next week and so they have lots of spare people
