Being a floater makes no difference. You should be prepping and delivering a certain percentage a day as part of workload. I'm a day-off cover, and it usually equates to one row a day prepping, and delivering any other already in the frame, left over from the rest of the week, if there is mail for the address.
FWIW this is what is agreed between myself and the various duty holders, and it works perfectly for us. Your mileage may vary.

My rest day cover guys never do any, they say they do and sign the sheet but there's always loads left over. Yet if I do all the D2Ds for the entire walk Mon-Fri when my day off is Saturday I run out of D2Ds or have a couple left over.
