Just been wondering,I am contracted to work 5 days per week,Never including sunday.
So when I go sick,Wednesday 1st day last day Tuesday,Why am I put down for being off sick for 7 days? When I don't work sunday.

basically because you have been unfit to work for 7 days, including the sunday and your day off, its whats been agreed to by the cwu and royal mail, look at in a little bit of an extreme way, if you only worked 1 day per week, if you went sick continously it would take over three months of being off before you would trigger a stage one warning, thats why as standards go its worked out at roughly 2 weeks of absence will trigger a stage one regardless of how many days worked(as a single block)

when someone's off sick they get sick pay. So if someone is off for 7 days sick they only get 5 days sick pay? You're day off and Sunday are counted as sick days but yet you don't get paying for them. 7 days sick should mean 7 days pay :-)

So someone working 39 hrs over 4 days could take 3 weeks sick and not trigger a stage but someone working 39 hrs over 5 days would even though they had both been sick for exactly the same number of hours and received exactly the same sick pay?

Always funny when someone is off sick the week before they are due to be off on Annual Leave and always without fail return for one day on the Saturday
