My start time for a Sunday is 8am. I have no problem with this, but I don't drive. The earliest I can get there is a few minutes late. Would this be acceptable if I explained it to a manager?

If you cant start the shift on time I think you have no choice but to inform the manager asap.

possibly depends on your manager to be honest, some places would let you away with it, some wont

I Cant see this being such a big issue, As start times seem to be moving slowly back, But If you have prep to do and you slow down others by being late it could be,
Best to talk to manager, May be they might prefer you to start a bit later anyway (8.30 etc).

Thank you everyone for your advice. I spoke to my manager and they said it was ok. Although I still feel guilty turning up late every week! I wouldn't mind starting later and finishing later to make up for it.
