sending staff to other offices

hi looking for some help here, our dom has started to send our staff to other offices everyday at the moment, just wondering can they force staff to do this even if it has not even been discussed or agreed with the rep? Any help will be appreciated.

I thought they could only ask and it could be refused if you do not want to.

Working in nearby offices – Areas will identify and agree with the CWU locally a approach (which could include the use of volunteers and reserves) to working in nearby offices within employees’ contracted hours which will include travel times and appropriate travel and subsistence arrangements.

Our office sends people to an office over 60 miles away !! We all collapse duties EVERY day , are short on ips and the many managers still do NOWT!

Our office does this everyday.They can do it for 'operational needs'. You need to say to them "I will report here on my time, I want taking there AND fetching back here WITHIN MY TIME!" If you make it too difficult for them they won't do it. If you make it easy for them by making your own way there and starting there they will take advantage and do it.

Does an employees contract of employment contain a " mobilty Clause" if not then relocating emplyees without their approval would not hold water at an ET.

Every Royal Mail OPG contract has it in it and even if it didn't the clause that includes collective agreements would probably cover it.

Mine says

Places of Work/Mobility Clause

Your initial place of work will be (names Delivery Office and Address). The needs of Royal Mail require mobility. You may therefore be required to work at any other work location of Royal Mail Group.

Since when was an office 60 miles away to the resident office deemed as being in close proximity. Apart from that how can it be profitable to take out at least 4 hours a day travelling out of an 8 hour shift.

thanks for the reply's guys, so unless its jointly agreed with the rep how this will work in the unit the dom cannot just force people to do this it seems? Am i right thinking this? disagreement?
