Porters, what's the point?

May as well make them sort instead. They finish portering before the sorting is finished in my office so we have to go and clear our own work down anyway. When I get off the IPS I'm lucky if there's half a box there, I'll clear down 2-3 boxes myself lol.

The porters are supposed to support the double preppers to allow them to maintain their super prepping standards without the inefficiencies of clearing down.
They are also supposed to support the IPS staff to allow them to maintain their super sorting standards without the inefficiencies of having double preppers clearing down and getting in the way.
To be honest like everything if it's done properly it works well, If it's on a par with the usual management organisational standards it's a pointless waste of time.

Like a lot of revisions FT p-ss poorly planned and executed just an excuse to rip hours out of an office using weight off the shoulder as an another excuse.

Another topic soz but would you rather leave pkts or loops when cutting off? We get the shocked face when we tell em were leaving mail, confrontation starts,,then it's , ok if you must then leave pkts.

shouldnt be streaming mail like that, should leave everything after the point your cutting off, if manager is asking you to prioritise mail over packets or vice versa i would suggest an anonymous email to moya telling her about it would sort things out

I did a week of portering recently. As soon as I walked in the guys on ips were shouting for porters and continued to shout all morning. It made prepping one walk entirely and the mech of another impossible. To add insult to injury, whoever was portering the walks I was prepping didnt bother finishing the job.

you do know that while portering your not meant to be sorting? the whole idea is to have people on ips, people prepping the frames and the porters going back and forth clearing down and passing the mail to the person sorting, porter should only be portering and not sorting or on ips

Informing them before goin out on delivery of cutting off I mean .? Packets or mail ?

yes thats not allowed shouldnt be prioritising either, the packets for the loop should be done at the same time (oversize in van though)

It's all news to me, it's on the duty sheet, porter for 18 duties, prep an entire walk and prep sequenced mail for another.
Thought it was a bit much for one person tbh.

Does anywhere else's double preppers have to throw in the sequenced mail for a third duty?

Been portering since it was brought in near Christmas.This is my last week doing it as nobody likes the idea of it,sorters keep moaning that the mail is backing up and also it bores the sh1t out of me.The extra money is good but I would rather do prep much more straight forward and less stressful

Don't worry, mail is dropping off alarmingly . Then there will be no need for porters .
