Some advice needed. I may have got a speeding ticket the other day though I can't be sure. Besides paying the fine would anything else happen? Warning or the sack?

Nothing to worry about as long as it's not well over the speed limit. It will get sent to Royal Mail and then they will check who was driving and you will fill it in saying who was driving. As it's your first offence you will probably be able to do a a course instead of taking the points.

in that case as long as your not on a suspended dismissal or something and it wasnt doing something like 80mph in a 30 zone , you will probably just have to pay the fine, take the points and that will most likely be the end of it,

an over zealous manager may try and conduct you for it but even then at most it would warrant is a warning

A guy was caught on camera speeding at my office, RM knew it was him as he had signed the vehicle out. He blamed another postie and was adamant it wasnt him. RM asked for the police photo. It was him and he was fined and had points on his license. The upshot was that around 3 months later he was made up to manager. Obviously his "raw talent" was spotted by RM.

You will be expected to pay the fine yourself and you will get 3 penalty points on your license unless the police offer you the chance to attend a Drivers Awareness Course.You will have to pay this yourself (£85 the last time I did it) but it stops you getting penalty points,also the course lasts about half a day.

i doubt i even did go over the limit but you know sometimes you wonder did i didnt i?

I went on a driver awareness course last week for a speeding offence I picked up last october in my own car. If you were speeding you would have got the letter through fairly quickly. I got mine about 2 days after. I was doing 37 in a 30 limit. If I had been doing over 42 I would not have been offered the course. The course cost me £93.00 and lasted 4 hours.

One of ours tripped the Tracker on the Hire van at Christmas so our Traffic 'manager' was alerted -
91mph on a bypass, supposedly on his way to buy petrol..
Whether he was 'trapped' as well I don't know.
He's still delivering pkts and cut-offs.. literally 'flying solo'.

That's damned decent of the local constabulary, recognising that the vital role that we play in delivering Her Majesty's mail makes us a special case.

Similar scenario to mine .. first ever offence .. caught by camera van doing 36mph in a 30mph zone in a Royal Mail vehicle .. you just have to hold your hand up, take the Driver Awareness Course and that should be the end of it .. don't stress about it, no big deal !
