Does Annual Leave have to be taken Mon-Mon?

Can anyone clarify whether or not leave has to be taken Mon-Mon?, as this is what management claim, & rep says is correct? What if you don't have a flight till back end of week? Also, annual leave sheets have been given back, & no dates given are same to those given in, I thought you were entitled to at least 2 weeks requested?

Of course it's Monday to Monday what do you want Saturday to Saturday? In that case you would have two Saturdays in every week if it was Saturday to Saturday. your manager and rep are correct. Depending when you handed your sheets in as well on your second question some posties cannot be bothered then they are allocated but normally you should have got a least two weeks you wanted see your rep again about that. It's possible to take a part week if you have some odd days but only once everybody else has had the chance to take their full weeks so you would be leaving it up to chance whether the space was still available.

You shouldn't be allowed to split full weeks up though otherwise some smartarse would no doubt take 30 saturdays and those weeks would all be blocked.

Its our holiday entitlement. To be used as and when you want time off. Royal mail can refuse time off when weeks are over subscribed, but they have no right pick our week for us. If they allocate your leave for weeks you don't want just inform them that you will not be taking that week off.

All this you can only book full weeks off is also complete bull. The whole holiday system needs to be redone. How can anyone plan there entire holidays over a year in advanced.

Holiday selection should be agreed locally, if your local arrangements don't match your requirements it is unfortunate.

I'd suggest that the 4 weeks which form part of the basic entitlement should be taken in 1 block of two pay weeks plus two blocks of 1 pay week. Any additional allocation, (including earned, bought or lieu) can be taken as full or half days whenever resourcing allows.

In our office employees are specifically encouraged to request individual days falling on Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays, meaning with one week block holiday plus three days you could get the following time off:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
This is eleven days away from the office, and depending upon your rota days could feasibly be extended to twelve or even thirteen

This surely would depend on what is locally agreed by your rep. Some offices allow odd days to be picked once the first four weeks have been selected.

depends on your DOM and local budget . Mon to Sat is easiest way to allocate leave but you can request lead in days or book more weeks to cover start and end dates . Then nearer the time tell your manager you can work mon to wed if he needs you and if its anything like our office he get you in. Or see if someone else in the office needs a couple of day holiday and ask your manager.
