Whos had the 3 minute prep test. You have to achieve 25 minute average throwing mail into your frame. Everyone at our offi ce has failed it and apparenty we will lose our jobs if we dont get to standard. Wtf.

There is no such thing as a 3 minute prep test this is an unagreed process get your Rep or Area Rep on to this immediately.

Do you know what the current planning value is for IPS sorting (Mins/per/1000 items)? and at what performance level you are expected to achieve in terms of BSI ?

IMO the BSI target for the test should be NO HIGHER than 100 - but would under normal working expect something between 75-85.

I can't see how there can be an I P S test. I work in an office some miles from my home which has mostly rural rounds. I don't know the area and have never done a rural. I doubt I go more than five or six letters without having to ask somebody where I should put a letter.

thanks. i cant find anything about the frame being clear or does it not matter. our manager said the 3 minute test has to be done after we throw our sequence and doors to doors in.

They tried to test us in the office but they dont take any notice of how many errors, one person put 30 letters in one slot and walked off and he got a score of 30
Its all scaremongering, there are people in our office who have such heavy rounds since p/l that they don't go up sorting at all

great i will tell my manager when he talks to me about it but does it states this in any documents just so i can slap his face with them.

one pair took all their mail today even though they said they needed to cut off 2 loops. he said on iwt or sommit they should be able to complete it. Its getting ridiculous. And its not even the managers timing us, hes getting other posties to do it. our union rep never said anything.

I had a IPS test 2yrs ago , my dom did not realize in the letters in front of me, halfway through had Missorts for out our area , he tried to say they did not count I said they do and would not be doing another IPS test , he reluctantly had to agree

Are the 2 links to the documents in the above posts now out dated? I referred to them when in conversation with my line manager and he said they are part of the old agreement and iwt is now the recognised and agreed method of measuring throughput and workloads. The individual prep standards do still remain though e.g. 25 letters in a minute on an empty frame. I can find no information elsewhere as to whether line managers use of IWT to bully us into completing seemingly impossible tasks is legitimate and agreed with the CWU. Anyone know what the official stance is on this?
