Over 4 weeks from start and still nothing!

Hi All,
I've employed for over 4 weeks now, this is my 5th week.
At my induction the Union Rep told everyone to order their footwear day one, on day one at the delivery office I was asked for my uniform order sheet and told they would order my footwear and see if they can get me a jacket (time of year etc), just checked today and been told nothing has been ordered and it won't be until I've been here over 6 weeks.

Now no one bothered to come and tell me and it's completely opposite to what the Union Rep said at induction.

I haven't been given a bag, hi viz vest, I'd card or footwear

I was speaking to a manager from another delivery office a couple of days ago and he just shook his head and said all his new starters get hi viz, bag and footwear ASAP.

I'm a bit peeved

I started about the same time. Can I suggest that you phone the order helpline and order it yourself.

forget the ID, it doesn't matter - it's not like you're handling the queen's jewels or anything else belonging to her

order online - I learned from here that your Username is your pay number and the Password is Delivery

My issue is what if I have an accident ie fall, trip, hit, bit, run over etc and Im not wearing issued footwear, hi viz etc where do I stand for insurance purposes.

As for the ID not being important, well it is if you want to get into work twice a day!

I waste time every day waiting for someone to answer the buzzer sometimes buzzing 3-4 times until answered

What length contract are you on as I'm sure I read somewhere that there are restrictions on what you can order and how soon depending on this. I'm on a 12 month and just phoned up and ordered mine on my 3rd day, the nice lady said do you want it all so I said yes please, just needed payroll number and managers name. Took about four days to arrive but still waiting on shorts and a cagoule though. There must be a spare hiviz and pouch lying around at your DO ?

I'm on a 6 month contract, if you order dire t yourself does it go to the DO or home?
It's a tough decision as struggling with not wanting to rock the boat but on the other hand I was told I should have the stuff!

If you work for any company that requires you to work in different sorts of workplaces, (indoor\outdoor\hazardous areas) they are legally obliged to supply you with the correct PPE I.E footwear, hi viz bibs or jackets, wet weather clothing. If they do not supply you with this, they are breaking the law, its that simple. Tell your DOM and phone up HR

Could be a long wait, ive been a p/t for 10 months and have just got my full uniform allocation, been along time coming and moaning to my dom Was given a hi viz after 2days though
Don't hold your breath for id badge, still not got mine!

Just order it from here, as long as you have your pay number then you can order it (just remember to fill all the details).

I shouldn't worry about the ID card. I was there 9 months before I got mine.
