Vans and tread depth
Now I'm aware that the legal minimum limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm....
Is there an RM policy or guidance on when you should request the tyres to be changed or is it a case of change them as soon as they hit 1.6mm?

Re: Vans and tread depth
no official policy on when, but it doesnt suddenly hit 1.6mm overnight unless youve been doing dohnuts in the yard, and you measure the tread depth weekly with a gauge so when its getting close ie 1.8mm ish i would be informing manager tyre needs to be replaced soon rather than just informing him about it one morning when its not legal to driveWOBBLY wrote:Now I'm aware that the legal minimum limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm....

Re: Vans and tread depth
On my driving conversion the instructor said that you should inform the transport office @ about 2mm which gives them plenty of time to get new tyres organised.

waiting till its illegal ie 1.5mm means that it must have been driven whilst it was illegal thus you must have broken the law by driving it prior to that so your wrong there is a need to report it before it becomes illegal

Re: Vans and tread depth
you said report it when it is illegal, so by your reasoning its not illegal at 1.6mm so not time to report it, when its less than 1.6mm you would report it ie at 1.5mmbringon4dayweeks wrote:doughnut who said 1.5mm ?zx135 wrote:actually if your going to correct my spelling at least get it right, donut is the american spelling, the english spelling is actually doughnut, also if your being picky there is a apostrophe in theres it should be there'sbringon4dayweeks wrote:theres no need to inform dom until its illegal then he she gets the rac out to change tyre and donut is not spelt dohnutzx135 wrote:no official policy on when, but it doesnt suddenly hit 1.6mm overnight unless youve been doing dohnuts in the yard, and you measure the tread depth weekly with a gauge so when its getting close ie 1.8mm ish i would be informing manager tyre needs to be replaced soon rather than just informing him about it one morning when its not legal to driveWOBBLY wrote:Now I'm aware that the legal minimum limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm....
