Sunday Delivery's may soon become part of our job, All year round.
There could be a profitable massive market for a 7 day delivery service in the future.
Talks and plans may have already started with a gradual plan of introduction
to start from 5 years from now. Sunday Delivery may start as a premium
service on a light parcel voluntary overtime basis, with part time in mind.
But this then may lead to a non premium ordinary service becoming
normality, With employees working 5 out 7 days rotational including
Sunday's, Or covered by part time weekend staff. If this keeps jobs
I think even the CWU will support this. With a massive further increase
in parcels some what under predicted, I a am sure there are many more
changes and further revisions to come. We love parcels

Royal Mail could Become The Biggest 7 Day Delivery service.

A Post person always dreamed of working Monday to Friday only
thinking that a Saturday and Sunday non delivery service will save the
company money. Traffic in parcel terms has increased and
will increase dramatically further. Society and Culture is changing
and royal mail has to move with the times. Amazon and
Ebay and other companies will play a big part in the future
of royal mail success, People will be more than happy to receive
there parcels on any day of the week including Sundays (Maybe
even Bank Holidays). A shared Van, A bag or a trolley can only
hold so many parcels, The Increase in Parcels that is forecast
is under predicted so will be helped by the 7 day service, This will
be the future, Various Deliveries At various times to suit customers
needs and employees working patterns, maintaining a secure profitable
future. This is only the start, Much more to come.

I can see the priest giving parcels out togther with the bread and wine at holy communion. Might attract a few more visitors to the church.

It’s called meeting customer demand and if the public want their packets, sorry parcels, delivered on a Sunday then that is what RM will have to do to keep the business.

How will it be staffed? Part-timers initially, would be my guess but ultimately Sundays might be included as part of our working week.

Wait till we get on to timed delivery slots for everything. Great fun!

I think the amazon locker system and designated pick up points will be the way to go for the smaller companies. Seven day service for deliveries would be too expensive for shareholders taste, RM is in the cost cutting game now! If they started Sunday del it would be at the expense of hours elsewhere...Tuesday?

How does that work, pal? If you work five days, Mon to Fri, then have two days off, your next five working days are.. Mon to Fri etc etc

Work any 5 out of 7 in total
You may have a Saturday off 1 week + another mid week mon - fri
You may have a Sunday off 1 week + another mid week etc
Or you may have both off, Or none at all at the weekend meaning 2 days off midweek mon - fri. Not Sat Sun Off etc
Its rotational, any 2 days off as required together or not, Good luck. Work it out, Work any 5 days in any 7 . Job Sucks.....................

Whether Sundays become a reality or not, the part of the market I can see us moving in on is the Saturday pm delivery - the likes of Herpes are already operating to 6pm on Saturdays with alot of the others like DPD/Yodel etc working well into the afternoon to meet the demand of Amazon's growing influence. Hermes handle alot of stuff from the likes of Debenhams/Next etc who promise next day delivery on items ordered on a Friday (with Next up to 10pm I believe) so why wouldnt Royal Mail want a piece of this action if the logistics were in place to deliver it?
