Reinstatment of sacked PO Ltd employee

Hi,

Is it possible to be sacked by PO Ltd then reinstated? Do the PO have a policy not to reinstate sacked employees or are there examples where this is not the case and someone has been reinstated?

Its a strange question really, it would depend what the sacking was for and if there had been an appeal, if it was successful and even that wouldn't guarantee reinstatement.

There was a case of 1 PO Ltd worker, and 1 Postal Worker, brothers, who were sacked for being involved in a Football riot. Neither was ever charged and the Tribunal ordered reinstatement - however I don't know for certain if they ever were

They were charged and sacked. Following unofficial action they won their industrial tribunals one was reinstated and given a transfer from North London to a stoke office where he still works and the other was given a significant amount of money.

The answer to the question is no it is not normal to remploy someone who has been dismissed. However I know people who have been remployed who have been dismissed but it's is normally in. A different area or different part of the business.

Thanks, very interesting. I'd like to know if anyone who was ever sacked by Counters got reinstated. The question is with regard to the Equality Act, if someone had been sacked as a direct result of their disability would it be possible for them to be reinstated to their substantive and original post?

An ET may order reinstatement, but employer does not have to abide by the order, they just pay a bigger award.
