Might be one for some of the people on here with a few years service but do many offices still run their own social clubs? We use to have one with the subs taken out of our wages, we had our own minibus that any member could hire, trips to legoland, alton towers etc all subsidised by the club and a big raffle at Christmas. I seem to remember it had to come to a end when HR started a new computer program which meant we couldn't pay our subs out of our wages. it was an excellent way of bringing us all together outside of the working day, Sadly missed now.................

many a piss up down the p o club in Ipswich. long closed down now. life getting better? I think not.

Our office has a brilliant one. Just 75p Subs paid weekly from payroll to S & S account. We have two vending machines making profits used to help run the S & S.
Trips are organised throughout the year to gigs, horse racing,panto, theatre etc. Almost any idea can be put to to the committee for consideration. Very few are not members. Office has over 100 staff so perhaps that's why it's a success.

Nothing at my current office :sad: used to have one at my old gaff which was run by our local Mail Centre which has now closed down.
A notice was put up to start one at my new gaff but seems to have gone of the radar :sad:

There's still a few of them about, cheaper beer than the pubs but in some cases used much more by retired postal workers, who don't have to get up in the morning, than current ones.

did not have a club but used to have money taken out the wages and we actually did things together out of hours. been all over the place playing pool, cards, football, rugby, snooker, running. against other offices but now we struggle to organise a piss up no camaraderie anymore :no no :no no

Long gone, personally I'm glad to see the back of anything that is about work at the end of the day, being a RM employee is depressing enough.
