lost pda

Hi, I finished work late on 23rd December as it was a very busy day.When I got back to the office I rushed through the usual dropping slipped packets and handing in bike key signing in etc.I hadn't realised that I had lost my pda I was in such a rush with going over my time.A member of the public handed it to another postman after Christmas and I was still unaware I had lost it.My manager this morning suspended me but then retracted until a fact finding on Friday.We are still very new to the pda but it's not looking good after 21 years of totally clean service.Am I looking down the barrell of a gun?

We've had people lose them , one even turned up on Ebay as a member of the public tried to sell it They got a bollocking but nothing else.

I think your gaffer has overreacted to begin with.....a ticking off will do....end of.....the item has been handed in...no damage done....what else is there to say?

if excepted genuine mistake then counseling if you go by the rule book

I lost my PDA about 6 months ago . Nothing came of it, Just told to be more careful.

How can you lose a PDA if you have it in your pocket at all times except when in use. So it ruins the trousers but you can always other new ones...

A few times, my various partners have panicked and we have spent time looking for PDAs left in bags, on the van, on the steps and a hedge but, hey ho, people will always do what they like - in delivery?

As if we have people signing things out and back in again... Even our specials are no longer signed out these days and they are put back through the hatch or on the the hatch sill or on the floor (depending on size and how many are waiting already) when the locker room is closed.

In my office, we have not signed in at start of duty for almost 2 years...

*People just gets PDA from their cradles but each walk has a numbered PDA - and that works most of the time...

We have been given holsters to put ours in. I cant see how you could lose one.

Holsters? how fancy! some of our posties refer to the PDAs as 'Guns'...

It can be lost through absent-mindedness, rushing or like I said persistently not having the PDA on your person when not in use.

Tall partner - taller than the van - left the PDA on top of the van and forgot about it - we spent some time later looking for it and retracing our route; found PDA splattered across the road: it still functioned but strap and pen cord broken....

I wouldn't say they are lost but they do get misplaced on occasion. I only remember one that was totally lost and that must be 2 and half years ago.
