Passport renewal

I'm in the process of renewing my passport, and I had to chuckle at the following part of the booklet that came with my application:

Delivery information
How your passport is delivered
In most cases, your passport will be delivered by courier ( on
behalf of HM Passport Office ) between 8am and 6pm,
Monday to Saturday. In areas where there's a low risk of
deliveries being lost, your passport will be delivered by
Royal Mail Recorded Delivery

They don't mention how they deal with areas where there is a high risk of deliveries being lost. I would hope they use Royal Mail then too.

I wouldn't call where I live a high risk area, but they used a courier to send one here and I think they mainly use a courier now. The documents sent with the application were returned using standard second class post.

They use couriers around here in west wales,your old passport comes back 2nd class

They use couriers around here and the last one I saw had gone to the old address.
Your old passport comes back 2nd class in a cheap manila envelope perforated across the back such that it's likely to be half open when delivered.

why would you apply for a passport with an old address address are not stored on the passport data base you are not required to inform them where you live

My mistake, "and the last one I saw had gone to the WRONG address", the mistake of the courier although correct and incorrect addresses were very similar.
