How much notice should be given for day off?

Is there a limit to how short the notice should be for days off? I have recently been informed on a Friday that my day off would be Monday, only to be told on Saturday that this has changed and it will now be the public holiday. It was suggested that I might be able to have my day in lieu later in the week and the manager will call in the morning if I can be spared.

None of this feels like enough notice to plan things, and I wondered if it was in accordance with agreements. Any information gratefully received.

I don't know officially, but i know on our notice board we have space for three rotas, current week and the two following weeks. However this hasn't stopped the handful of occasions where I and others have turned up on a Monday morning to find out that that is our day off
Current Dom is a little better, the next weeks rota is usually up by Thursday or Friday

just put in a request for holiday and see how long that takes

24 hrs .. but they will use operational needs as a get out, now if you work in a large office then this should not apply as the onus is on them to find cover but you will have to fight to get them to adhere to it

Sorry, perhaps should have been clearer, I mean how much notice should managers be giving me regarding which day will be my day off. Is it good enough for them to tell me 48 hours in advance? Cheers for all the replies.

Just say you have arranged to do something on that day or look after a child/relative.
