Management on D2D's this coming week

We had a statement read out yesterday morning saying that we were to absorb Monday & Tuesdays D2D's on Monday
and Wednesday & Thursdays D2D's on Tuesday as it will be quiet on those days but being off for 2 days means that
Friday & Saturday will be busy.
Is this agreed with the CWU or just RM pushing their luck?

It will NOT be quiet on Monday/Tuesday,even less so Thursday onwards...all the holiday mags sale packets etc are swamping us already.We had 5 managers doing IPS all morning on Friday. Saturday post wise(not packets) was one of the heaviest I can remember.

as the OP is from scotland, there will be no d2d delivered on Thursday as its a bank holiday, so in effect same as it would have been last week, only 4 days to deliver d2d, your going to have to double up some days to get them delivered in time, so doing two days worth Monday and Tuesday is the sensible option, doesnt need to be agreed with CWU other than with local rep in the office resource plan for the week(which should have been done already) so just deliver them as directed and if its going to take you over your time, tell your DOM and either follow the Cutting off procedure or claim OT what ever he and you prefer to do

this is such a bog standard reply whenever anyone asks a question on workload. Also this new agreement isnt going to change anything,the onus is always on the walking man to do more which will lead to even more bullying and harrasment.

It is a bog standard reply because it is the only sensible reply.
Would you prefer someone to advise you to go in an hour early unpaid every day to ensure the D2D are delivered to spec?
No-one on delivery is being asked to do anything more than work the hours they are paid for.

The position hasn't changed on D2D.
It's still the duty holders decision how to manage D2D over the week as long as a) A clear and simple control method is in place and b) The contract is completed inside specification.

Until they change that(and I think they will at some point) their statement is pretty meaningless.

No DTD on our shared duty next week - only had one between us over the last two as well and we did the sensible thing for a short week - all in the frame Monday morning, take only with mail and all were gone by Saturday. Plenty of holiday brochures in during the week but lots less packets (until the online sales purchases hit us this coming week) All in all a comfortable Christmas week which goes some way to compensating for my day off falling on Boxing day :(
