Sending school and firms mail back that are closed over Xmas

Told by managers that any school or company that have not paid for keep safe and have no access to delivery mail. That mail must be killed off.
Would like to know if all offices are doing this.

if your manager wants this mail killed off then it is down to him to sign the killed off mail.
do not sign the mail as killed off. if you know there is a firm / office or school that will reopen after
christmas then leave the mail in his office he is the office manager let him have the decision to make.
when the s**t hits the fan his name will be on the items.remember managers dont like making decisions.

Why would it be instantly killed off?
If you have a block of flats where you cannot gain access, you don't immediately return all the mail to sender.
There is a procedure in place, so why shouldn't that same procedure be followed?

By the time that has been exhausted, most firms/schools will have reopened.

For the block of flats there's a sticker for no access to building trades button off.
Nothing for the schools and firms.
Started doing this in the summer leaflet got sent to schools halfway through summer holidays that if no keep safe In place mail would be returned. Shocking!
Something to do with audits.
Mangers in office don't care about customers money mad and trying to look good to higher managers

does local councils give a damn when they send out council tax demands no they cant wait to add on charges and refer them to debt agencies for a fee
so they should pay for services as well if they dont pay for the service kill it off

managers who are jobsworths like that are either up their bosses chuff (well most are) or just want to damage rm's goodwill built up over 200 years. even though rm's goodwill has already been irrevesibly damaged by the lastest wave of board members !

.Over the years I did many schools, and I can say that the vast majority of the mail that came in over the holidays was junk mail--trays and trays kept under your frame for weeks---I think the Schools should pay R/M for getting rid---never mind keeping them!

We just leave it in / under / on top of the fitting till they re-open during any holidays

Well think of it this way;

When you attempt to deliver a parcel and the recipient is not in - it gets held at the callers office for two weeks. Whats the difference between that and mail?
