But we will have to wait till 2015. How do you think about that part of the deal?

The average pay rise is currently 0.8%. We are not MPs.

Anyone who thinks this is not one of the better pay rises in the UK is bonkers.

No it isn't.
http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/dcp171778_335027.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The median gross weekly earnings for all employee jobs (full-time and part-time) were £417, an increase of 2.6% from 2012.
The bottom line is the pay deal is decent, keeps us above or around inflation and isn't a reason to reject the agreement in itself.
It isn't stunning though as some would have you believe.

So 3.0% hardly qualifies as sh*t does it? LinChong's posts are always entertaining.

They are indeed.
Even in his previous incarnations his posts were never bland although I think he did accuse me of being a management/government/CIA plant once.
That was funny.

Fish if you look at The Office of National Statistics said in October that total pay rose at an annual rate of 0.7% between June and August.

The latest records for December is 0.9%.

The point being is that the pay we have over 3 years with experts saying inflation is due to come down. Its is only 2% in the USA and with no reopened clause for 2014 it is a good deal on pay.

If MPs get 11%, everyone else should too. Nobody can argue there is not enough profit being made to cope with an 11% pay rise for CWU grades in Royal Mail. The cost of living will continue to rise more than 3% a year. If the people who decide the MPs pay think 11% is not unreasonable, who are we to argue with them?

Someone pointed out this post could be made in to a haiku which is a japanese form of poem that has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the middle line and 5 in the last line. So, in the interests of poetry, here is the haiku version of this post:

3% is sh*t

2.8% is worse

Worth bearing in mind their salaries are independently assessed now(in light of the expenses scandal) and there are changes to their pension scheme and reductions in other claims, previously allowed.
The pay offer is in the current climate, not unreasonable,my major gripe is with the substantial bonuses management received as a result of the £403 million pound profit, line managers received £4000 where i work, surely we should have negotiated a more equitable distribution of the profit instead of an insulting £200 for an opg........that is without mentioning Moya's 100% bonus payable on her basic salary of around £500.000.

Basically MPs are public employees, so should get the same pay rise as your local dustman,( insulting i know as dustmen are useful, and work a damn site harder) dustman got about 1% this year if that so MPs should be no different.

thats a fair enough comment, though then if you look at MP's pay increases they have had several years of no pay increase and their increase has averaged 1.4% over the last 10 years, below the rate that public sector workers have got,

so going by your suggestion of linking them with public sector pay, which i agree with, then they would actually be on much more than they are on at the moment

Depends on which public sectors workers you compare them with, many in the council were I used to live had a pay cut, preceded by a pay freeze.
