wind speeds are expected to hit 60mph inland and 70mph on the coasts.
IF these winds arrive where do we stand in refusing to go out on delivery
surely if it's dangerous to go out and people are being warned to stay off the roads etc can we refuse to go out on delivery for health and safety reasons?

actually that says the 24th so that is on Tuesday and the eye looks to be heading for Scotland

Your Dom and h&s rep will need to go out around your area and conduct a inspection. There is then a process they will go though on the pc which will highlight the problem. The findings will be discussed on the conference call and a decision made concerning the deliveries.

we have no H&S rep in our office and our DOM is told what to do by his DSM even though they are miles away and sat in a comfy office and only ever go outside for a fag break or to go home ;)
I personally will refuse to go out if i think it is too dangerous and will advise others likewise.
if we stand together as an office ( unlikely I know ) then surely the DSM / DOM will see sense ( again, unlikely I know )

That won't happen,about 4 years ago,our DOM did indeed deem it too dangerous to go out,but when on her conference call she was told quite clearly that if we didn't go out then we wouldn't get paid.So we went out and as a result we had two vans written off and three posties suffering broken limbs.The plebs at the top couldn't give a toss about front line delivery staff,we even had members of the public saying to us that they couldn't believe that we were expected to go out in that kind of weather.
