Re: urgent advice needed
I wouldn't go into any confrontational situation with the mindset that you want someone to pay.
What you should want is a change in behaviour and an apology.
That should be the starting point in any grievance you may take out.

Go to your dom and ask for a H1 form ( I think) This will start the process to register a harassment against your college.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: urgent advice needed
see if you can get any witnesses. tell dom you have been assaulted and what he is going to do about it? be aware if you prove said individual has assaulted you he will be sacked. I personally wouldn't worry if he threw all packets back on your walk. just cut off when you've had enough. I here the packet men moan every day about whats been chucked out, and the dly men moan about whats been chucked back. its not worth getting physical about. but im pretty laid back.

talk to him, shake hands & move on. Its Christmas, don't grass & lose somebody their job in the current climate with no jobs out there. Ask him for an appology & forget about! People that behave like the above are not the shaka hand type and unless they are made to face the music, their behaviour will not change.
He is unlikely going to lose his job but he needs to be cut down a peg or two. It is all well the 2 prominent Union reps here saying that the victim should take a chill pill and that he should not go for a sanction or censure...
I hear too much too much of that here and if it was a manager the advice will be very much different...
The issue of drivers doing what they like is one of my biggest thumbs-up for park and loop. We do out own driving now except for the HCTs. The only massive fall out we have had from a park and loop pairing so far is over packets... This was a situation where one of them still thinks he is a van driver and that the other postie is a walker...
This winds me up so much. P&L - should mean everyone that can drive should be driving from time to time unless agreed between the individuals concerned - no driver/walker bull!

I understand your frustration but you need to calm down.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Two sides to every story and we are only hearing the one and its a very emotive one at that. B & H is not on but you sound as if you want revenge more than anything?
Personally I think the best advice came from Halfull

so if it was summer would you give a different reply maybe that,s why rm think most of the bullying that goes on is postie v postie.halfull wrote:talk to him, shake hands & move on. Re: urgent advice needed
I can understand that the poster is emotional about things but then he is the victim as far as we know: and this sort of thing happens and it is allowed to happen by managers and in some ways by Union Reps as well (although they do not have direct powers but they seem to condone or excuse).
In days before P&L we had drivers that cannot be controlled by managers: they resorted to punishing posties that use bikes by delaying the bag drops, they take packets back to frame so they can finish early or just to be awkward and they do as they please... In the end, they were part of the reasons why some people decided to use their cars so they do not have to go through the confrontation every day. But some people could not and did not want to use cars so they are either forced into taking bigger packets or end up in a situation like the poster.
Even if this was reported, it will not be bullying and harassment as such - it is an unsavoury incident and there should be some sort of mediation: the poster might not even be 100% in the right. I do not see this as a sackable offence unless the aggressor has previous and there are credible witnesses to corroborate the poster's version.
I will repeat that this sort of person will not simply apologise or shake hands unless made to through mediation by manager or Union Rep or through the threat of further sanctions.

Tell the dom that if he pushes you again you will not be held responsible for your actions, that may make him listen if he thinks a fight may happen and the prospect of losing 2 postmen slaps him in the face.

I don't think that's a very good idea at all.2pints wrote:Tell the dom that if he pushes you again you will not be held responsible for your actions, that may make him listen if he thinks a fight may happen and the prospect of losing 2 postmen slaps him in the face.
It shows premeditation and basically amounts to a threat of violence.
If you actually end up hitting someone in this job the only defence I've ever seen work involves an instant reaction to provocation not something you've planned or know might happen.
Yes report it to the Dom if you feel it might happen again but no...don't suggest that the next time he does it you're going to drop him.

yes im going to see the dom in the new year ask for the h1 form and get union rep involved, the trouble is I work in a very small office of about 30 people,so I see him a lot, like I mentioned his frame is next to mine,if it was a bigger office and I hardly saw him things could be different,i feel my weekendfishtank wrote:I don't think that's a very good idea at all.2pints wrote:Tell the dom that if he pushes you again you will not be held responsible for your actions, that may make him listen if he thinks a fight may happen and the prospect of losing 2 postmen slaps him in the face.
