Using private car

Found out today, that our Dom asked a postie to use his private car. Our revision went live nearly 12 months ago.
Is it not illegal to use private vehicles after a revision ?

Pretty much, but it is allowed in some very very limited circumstances which your Dom asking does not fall into

The DOM can ask anyone whatever they want, but any sensible person would say no to anything but a reasonable request and using your own car, own petrol, without insurance warrants a no and maybe a word in the reps ear to pass it up to the area rep.

If no one has full business insurance then they're not even insured to drive to a different office.

SPD(C) only covers driving to primary place of work.

This is a big no no. People are actually getting dismissed for using their own car on delivery! Once the revision is in place the RM bond no longer exists. Anyone who is asked this should report it to the reps, office snd H&S.

Ganda is spot on as all bonding is removed via the revision. The postie therefore cannot insure the mail.

We have had managers using their own cars to drop off posties,trollies and bags and bringing out more bags as needed.We are a park and loop office and these were posties doing cut offs on their day off.When asked the managers said Royal Mail provided insurance for all managers to use their cars,is this right?

In my office the management are quite happy to turn a blind eye if a member of staff uses their own vehicle to deliver lapsing on the way home. Both parties are perfectly happy; managers clear the office, posties get home a few minutes early A road accident involving one of these idiots may alter perspective a little.

i use mine 7 days a week and its nothing to do with the dom

you should see my office, were not in the rivision yet, but seeing guys pusing yorkies out to there cars, disgusts me, absolutely ruining this job

Managers are bonded yes. They would also require some level of business insurance on their cars, which they should have anyway as they move from office to office.

Managers are bonded yes. They would also require some level of business insurance on their cars, which they should have anyway as they move from office to office.

not quite, if they are bonded they are covered, they do not need further business insurance over and above

Not my area but will the Managers only be covered on a third party status if Royal Mail are providing a bond. If Royal Mail as a business are covering on their insurance to transport postal items, will the car registration not have to be included on the insurance database like any other Royal Mail Vehicle?
