Through Xmas pressure have you had to explain the grey surcharge cards?

I must go through it twice a day...

I think the larger cards should come with a warning sticker like "if you post this please use a large stamp or the recipient will be surcharged and forced to pay the extra plus a £1 fine".

In my 7 weeks in the job, I have had to 'explain' it just the once. Saying that, no-one had explained it to me and as it had been delivered the previous day on my rest day, I had not seen one before. The woman decided she was not expecting anything worth the £1.09 fee, so tore the ticket up

...but will then moan to her friends that, "the post person must've stolen your letter/ Christmas Card/ Lost it/ etc etc as I never got it!" not understanding that the surcharge card was telling her that her friend had either not stuck anything on it in the form of a stamp OR not paid sufficient postage... Oh well

Same here, the polite one's i find the time to explain what they need to do. the rude one's i talk to them as i would a 5 year old, and say :you need to read the card properly:.
