do i have to sign for the cage duty

Tomorrow it is my turn to sign for a the new duty i am the last full timer on the list number 51 after me its all park time staff. The only full time duty left is the indoor cage duty scanning in all the special and doing all computer work. do i have to sign for this i did not join royal mail to sit indoors behind a computer. Do i have to sign for this ? any help please

locker duty should have been put up for signing seperately, its a specialised duty and should be resourced in a different way, there is a skills test and after that the most senior person who passed gets the job, worth thinking about though, if you dont take that are you going to be landed as a leave reserve with irregular days off?

The alternative is to move into a full time vacancy in another office.
As has already been posted this duty is normally ring fenced and kept out of any repick.
Who did it before and why have they given up ?

they say locker is a specialised duty but with a bit of training im sure you will be ok it can get very busy in there though

would you rather drop hours? if you want to walk that much drop your hours and pick a PT walk - otherwise suck it up and do the locker duty until you get a chance to pick off it

so tomorrow its my turn to sign and the only duty that is full time is the cage. i don't mind the duty but its all the other work like doing all the payroll and over time and all the other crap the manager pass over to you. please help don't wont to work indoor. its a bit unfair park timers have been made up and got there own rounds .shouldn't park timers been made up if there where any spare full time rounds left.

Its not so much the cage duty its all the computer work which the dom now pass over to the cage i dont really do much with computer and didnt become a post man to sit in office behind a desk.

we are having the revision now and we have rest day cover reserve which all all gone but cant see any duty to cover full timers when on annual leave. they think part timers will do the full time rounds when people are on hoilday.
