is there anyone left on delivery that actually likes the job any more ? since a park and loop revision has gone in ?
before everyone starts i know its a well paid job for what we do and you only have to work to your time but do you like the job

What's the problem with working to your time? What other industry do you know of where people are expected to,work past their time? None I know of,so why should we feel guilty about cutting off? The "management" (planners) made the deliveries too big to complete, so there you go,have it back. Quite frankly there are amoeba on Saturn with better planning skills than RM planners.
However back to your original point, I suppose there are benefits to the job, although they are being slowly eroded? I hear they are buying a submarine to try and find morale.

Yep, I may be the only one but I enjoy doing the P&L a damn sight more than being on a bike. The job more or less runs to time and as long as the other person is friendly then there's no problem at all. The biggest issue I had was that my original partner was a complete kn*bhead runner who saw it as a challenge to take every shortcut going - all it did was make me go slower. Things are much better now and we even have time to put the world to rights every morning.

Yea I quite like the job. I started around 8 years ago and the job entailed using my own car with no allowance for mileage or petrol. How bl~~dy silly was that! Anyway that was the job on offer, it was that or walk 4 miles or get the bus then start delivering. I remember I was actually dreading park and loop and didn't think it would work. For me its worked very well. We never stuck with the original loops and broke them down into much smaller ones about 3 days after starting. I have covered other P&L walks on overtime that stuck with the big loops and they are a nightmare. A lot depends on who you are working with but if you both can agree on a system your going to be better off.
I have done some rotten P&L walks and if asked to do them would now offer to do an HCT walk instead. At least you can work at your own pace and modify the delivery to suit you. Touch wood I will be on the P&L walk I am currently on for some time to come though.

Pre- park and loop, a typical delivery in my office took about 2 hours 45 minutes to complete on a typical day, and that was doing it more or less by the book and not running round like a blue-arsed fly. Nowadays, we are often out delivering for four to four hours and forty minutes. It's a massive increase, and it really has taken its toll of loads of people in our office, myself included. Ninety percent of the people in my office walk round with a demeanour resembling or or . The other 10% are managers.

Pre P&L you went out in the snow and stayed in it for 4/5 hours. At least now you're only ever an hour away from a nice warm van.

I still enjoy the job. We had our revision about 18 months back and 98% of the office are happy with how it went. Most of the loops seem to work out (doing them your own way and not how the planners said).

I work with a mate, carry lighter bags than I used to, get longer in bed and don't leg it around anymore.

The downside is I finish a lot later than I used to, but working to your time is no hardship so overall P&L is fine for me. However I spent a few weeks with different partners before they shifted my current partner into the duty (he picked it) and it was a nightmare. I spent more time helping them and sat in the van waiting than I did on my own loops. I can understand why so many people hate it.

Yep, I love it!, just today I was filling the van in the rain with a fag hanging out of my mouth, smoke stinging my eyes!(come on, it`s the only break I get!) and a pen in my hand writing down the addresses of my thirty + parcels, before slinging them into the van!...no van share partner in sight!, when the DOM comes out and screams at me "what are you doing??, that`s took you ten minutes!!!", yep, ten minutes of a non existent forty minute break!, tomorrow I will have two fakes in my gob, the next, three!, by the end of the week, call the circus, roll up, roll up, COME AND SEE THE POSTMAN WITH A MOUTHFUL OF BONS, STILL ABLE TO LOAD A VAN!!!, no seriously, I love it...
