1. Whats the deal with having a cigarette on my round (I do, quite frequently, but not sure what the official stance is on this?)
Not sure on the official stance, but my guess would be that it's probably better to do it as part of your break as opposed to while you're working. Someone could complain that it doesn't look professional.
2. Quite a few people in my office start early and finish early, does it not matter so long as the job is done?
It does matter - you're not meant to do it. You don't get paid for the work you do before your start time normally, so all it does is give the managers the impression that the round is easier than it is, causing them to add more to the round.
You probably won't be told off for doing it, but it's better just to come in at your start time and work from there.
3. I've heard there are some big changes happening atm - how will these affect me?
They won't affect you for 5 years, by which point you'll know what they are.
4. Whats the crack with the xmas bonus and the extra bonus staff are receiving? Is their a cut off date meaning that new starters won't receive this?
I doubt you'll get it if you've only been with RM for 6 weeks.
5. Overtime - is this paid a week after the fact?
Yep, your overtime is paid on the Friday after the week you did the overtime.
6. Doorstepping - I know the drivers do it as I have come across parcels on my round, got called into managers office for it (although it wasn't me) should I just say nothing about it or tell someone when I see this as it reflects badly on me?
If you got called into the manager's office because he wrongly thought you were doorstepping, tell the manager it wasn't you and tell him who it was! Also, if you see any more parcels doorstepped on your round, tell the manager, to cover your own back. If you're nice, you might warn the driver that you're going to start doing this.
Don't risk your own neck to protect the drivers' laziness - it doesn't just reflect badly on you; it could get you sacked.
