Need legislation for letter boxes and numbers

Two things that really boil me up, one is people with low letter boxes, the other thing is people without numbers on the door, this includes people with named houses, ok if they want there house to have a name that's there business, but they should still have a number, why can't this useless government legislate against this.

Numbers of houses to be renewed by occupiers.

The occupiers of houses and other buildings in the streets shall mark their houses with such numbers as the commissioners approve of, and shall renew such numbers as often as they become obliterated or defaced; and every such occupier who fails, within one week after notice for that purpose from the commissioners, to mark his house with a number approved of by the commissioners, or to renew such number when obliterated, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £20 and the commissioners shall cause such numbers to be marked or to be renewed, as the case may require, and the expence thereof shall be repaid to them by such occupier, and shall be recoverable as damages.

good find, shame its not enforced, the local council round here would be rich if it was.

I would say 99% of times I have miss delivered have been houses without numbers.

Tried to find 6 Oak**** Avenue on a 'named' street - first house I tried "No Idea, Sorry"..

A few years ago was doing a round in my office which are like prefab holiday homes which people bought and it was a nightmare as some had no paths , some had letterboxes at the rear of the property, some where the mail was left in all number of places on the plot, a lot with just names, and finally some had holiday home numbers as well as address numbers.
Needless to say I have never offered to do that round again

moneys less, but so is the stress. Although i might not be saying that next tuesday.

Round i did yesterday is a joke for this. You get to 27 then the next 4 houses don't have numbers then you hit 39, i had letters for 31,33, and 37. 37 was easy to work out but the other ones were pot luck. I was sure there was no hidden house so knew the street didn't have 29 or 35, knocked on the 3 house's but no answer so no mail for them. Got back to the office and asked about it, turns out there is no 29 and people get angry when miss deliver something!!
