Had induction, now have even more questions?

Went for induction today and I start work tomorrow. Have more questions now so will list them below.

1. Was told that we wouldnt get paid for our induction day, is that right?

2. was told that any overtime we did, we would always get paid for that the following week. is that correct?

3. my hours are 9.15 - 3.15, but im contracted to work 25 hours, I make it due to those times 6 hours a day so that makes 30 hours over 5 days. Any ideas?

4. What do u do for lunch? want to take my own lunch to save money, so how do you carry lunch aswell as the mail bags?

5. Was told at induction that overtime can be taken on day off during week, this was also mentioned at my interview. I want overtime but dont want to work 6 days a week, cant i just work longer hours on my usual days?

6. where i have chosen to work is a nightmare for parking, my only option is to park a mile away and walk or take bike in car. Anyone else had this problem? Are there not any special permits employer can give?

1. Whoever told you this should be shot. You don't have to work for free. Ever.

2. Yes, you are meant to get paid overtime the following week. There will however, be mistakes. Keep record of all your overtime and check your pay check every week.

3. The hours you work have little relation to your contract. If you manage to finish on time every day (you won't) you'll be working 30 hours a week, so claim 5 hours overtime every week.

4. Take a sandwich and eat it whenever you want.

5. You might be asked to work your day off, you can say no. You'll probably be expected to finish your delivery every day, so that means claiming overtime every day. If you don't want to do overtime any particular day, you'll have to inform your manager ASAP, he'll make arrangements for you to leave something (or talk you into doing the overtime).

6. No idea, my office has a large car park. Ask others what they do.
