Flexibilty

Post by drudie »

Hi,

Does anybody know whether there has been another flexibility agreement since the one in the 2007 Pay and Modernisation Agreement? Our office manager is telling people that if they book overtime or cut off on busy days that they will have to stay until their finishing time on quiet days. Obviously at the moment we aren't going to get any quiet days but he is even saying that overtime booked now will be clawed back after Christmas. I have asked my union rep about it and he doesn't seem to know what the flexibility agreement is. All he said was that the office manager couldn't keep individual people in and if he was going to do that he would have to keep everyone in until their finishing time. In our office there are a lot of duties that are significantly easier than others and the people on those duties go home early every day of the week. The office manager is aware of this and just allows it. There is absolutely no way he is going to force them to stay until their time and it will be the ones who have harder duties and have to cut off or book overtime on some days that will be targeted. He already did this a couple of Saturdays ago. A group of people who had cut off during the week were forced to stay to their time while others were allowed to go home early. Surely this can't be right? Any advice on this matter and what course of action the affected people can take would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

As yet there are no changes to the flexibility rules, but this new agreement if verified states that time does not have to be given back in the same week if I am reading it correctly. At present if you work to your hours and you come back early, then the DOM is entitled to make you stay until your finish time. Previous agreements state that we must work all of our contracted hours.
