overtime in other offices

on my rest day i was ask by another office to do overtime not my pareant office my manger told them i was not allowed too do the overtime is this right even if im on my rest day

Thats bollox, you are entitled to do over-time in any office as long as it does not conflict with your duty. Speak to your union rep.

My understanding is that any O/T you worked at another office would be set against their budget rather than your own DO.
Whether this works in practice, I have no idea.

A few years back at Xmas,there was a clarion call to delivery offices (mine included) for help at our main Mail Centre... The manager spoke about it sort of casually but when I asked about the details, he was very vague and intimated that I should be offering to do OT in our office.

The same view was taken to trying to do cash in hand work to help colleagues...

I suppose it depends on the manager (live and let live...) and how much OT is available in your own office.

Pretty sure there's a system called RCS for exactly that purpose - loans and borrows between offices

you can tick up in any office you like so long as you can get there and you do not compromise your ability to do your duty.
You should however go to the bottom of the list and be utilised only when the office concerned has exhausted its own volunteers list

Nothing stopping you working in other DOs. The hours come from that DOs budget, not your own so the DOM should have nothing to moan about.
You can also claim T&S payments of 45p per mile (I believe the rate is) and may well be able to negotiate traveling time, to and from the other DO. It depends how desperate they are for extra staff.
They may well try ans BS you but it's strange how when they want you...suddenly there's no problem with paying out. If you're asking for the work they may stall....in that case call their bluff and say you're not really bothered.
Good Luck IMHO it's every working man's right to earn extra pay if possible. They want a part-time flexible workforce but only if it suits them! Scream like babies when the system's used against them.
