If I had 2 days off at the beginning of the year with an abscess then recently had two weeks off with a back injury then how many days does that constitute as ?

2 weeks would normally be 14 days but it will depend on shift patterns, days off etc. in Monday of 1st week was a day off, and Friday, Saturday the 2nd week it works out at 10 days(totalling 12 in all) . As long as you called them at the right times.

depends when they fell - if they weren't at either end then they do count.

It was two weeks, seven days in a week, times two, equals fourteen. I had the same problem a few years ago. Not telling you to manage, or even plan your sickness, but from this question on here you will have the answers to how much sickness and the time scale you can have it over. The Stage 1 will last six months, accept it and look at this as a learning experience.

if the back injury is from work i dont see how it can trigger a stage

I was off ill a couple of times, got issued a stage 1. The DOM said keep your nose clean for six months and you will be ok not to receive a stage 2,keep my nose clean .... I was ill not pinching pkts and emptying envelopes ! Made out as if I had done something wrong
