I've worked for companies before and taken part in such introductions on a newly privatised business.

Mr. Shareholder will want to know:

How many times you fart
How many times you scratch your balls
How many times your discussing latest football results
How many times .........

And if you ain't making him money, he's going to crap on you from a very great height.

NO WCM is nothing to do with flexibility, lapsing or finish times. Behind it all being the 20/21st century version of a cure all elixir its basically "continual improvement " in the way we do things. It's meant to improve how we do things while working the same hours, how to make IPS more efficient, how to queue vans when loading so that the furthest to travel out can leave the quickest etc. Instead it's turned into silly pictures, lessons on how to walk and ghost footprints on the stairs.

If they had done it properly it might have improved things, but now is a comic book skive for people who want to do "make work", for people who tick boxes for a living, reporting to people who don't even know what the difference is between a 48 frame and an IPS backless.

The last time we tried loading vans on the landing, bearing in mind our landing holds about 8 vans and it wasn't furthest away duties first, we had vans queuing out the yard and down the street.

Seems to me that WCM is as good or as bad as the people that are involved with it. It's just a set of tools that can be used to identify and resolve problems. I've seen some good examples and some not so good but that's the point of the audits. Hasn't really got going in delivery yet but it's coming.
