Im due a few days annual leave in January, Monday to Thursday (4 days). Im on a 25hr contract split over 4 days a week (6hrs 15m a day) but im always rotared to work 5 days of which I put one day of my choice down as a day out overtime and then the other day I take it off so in theory I work 31.15hrs a week.
So in January I'll be rotared to have Monday to Thursday off annual leave. My question is am I entitled to a day off when im back (ie Friday or Saturday) and if I am then if Im rotared to work one of them should I put it down as a day out overtime?

Re: Question regarding day off / annual leave.
If you booked Monday to Thursday as leave then you should be entitled to Friday and Saturday as your rest days, if you chose to work it then that's up to you. If not then that would mean some of your annual leave was also your rest days which they can't do so you'd claim it back if they tried to shaft you. That's my take on it.

But if two-thirds of a week, four out of six days, is booked as leave then surely just two-thirds of 25 hours should be taken so he's not entitled to Friday and Saturday as rest days ?coxie wrote:If you booked Monday to Thursday as leave then you should be entitled to Friday and Saturday as your rest days, if you chose to work it then that's up to you. If you work a 4 day week then 4 days holiday equals one week.Lounge Lizard wrote:But if two-thirds of a week, four out of six days, is booked as leave then surely just two-thirds of 25 hours should be taken so he's not entitled to Friday and Saturday as rest days ?coxie wrote:If you booked Monday to Thursday as leave then you should be entitled to Friday and Saturday as your rest days, if you chose to work it then that's up to you. If you work 5 days out of six, they don't take a sixth of your entitlement back.
Also if you work a 4 day week, your annual leave entitlement will be based on the 4 days (eg 4.5 weeks holiday @ 4 days per week = 18 days). That is simplified to illustrate the point, it can be more complicated when you add in different attendance patterns like 9 day fortnights, wallington weeks etc.
That's how it works in my office
