Looking at the franchise clause in the agreement, my interpretation of this clause is that RM can start franchising any part of the business whenever it wants, just as long as that doesn't involve an employee being employed by the franchise. Read the clause carefully.

2.3. The Employer will not franchise out any part of its business, where to do so involves entering into any contractual arrangement with another person or company to carry out the collection, transportation, sorting and delivery of letters and parcels on behalf of the Employer and that results in an Employee becoming self-employed or employed by such a third party

So RM could start franchising delivery offices just as soon as they like with staff being offered vacancies in other offices or VR.

Generally at any one time there are less than one hundred advertised vacancies in delivery offices nationally.
Also there is no money for VR.
Headcount reduction will come through the conduct code, with full time permanent inflexible opg's being targeted.
I think RMG will enter into a joint venture with TNT being offered a management contract to run RMG Delivery.
The future is definitely bleak and possibly orange.

I wouldn't put it past RM to franchise out the artic runs between RDCs and between RDCs and MCs, possibly also the runs from MCs to DOs

Network will be the first - it's the smallest group of employees and is common practise with large companies (look at Stobart's and Tesco's).

Mdec wont be safe either. When webdec starts soon The mail can be accessed from anywhere in the world so can see that going to a country with cheaper labour costs
