ive not done a test but am still allowed to drive?

As the title says, my boss says I'm allowed to drive the smaller vans just not the bigger ones until a do the test. I was under the impression you had to do the test regardless of which van?

As part of our Delivery modernisation, in response to the growing number of parcels that we need to deliver, we are introducing additional vehicles (CDVs) to our fleet and phasing out previous cycle and foot based Delivery routes. As a result of this we are creating a number of new RM drivers as colleagues convert to a vehicle based delivery. In the past any new RM driver would have undergone changeover training, typically 45 minutes in duration, , but we have since September 2012 now changed this so that all new drivers are required to undergo full Primary Driver Training with a duration of 3.5 hours and a mix of theory and practical driving time. This is another significant investment in our people geared to contributing towards our overall drive to continuously drive down accidents and associated impacts on our people of equipment.

It used to be the case but was changed to include all vans a long time ago

So if I crash the van would I get a big hiding as I havnt don't the test?

When I did my test I used the same van I had been driving for months. The test guy showed me how to fill out the log book, just like every other page
But, like he said, DOMs disregard the rules when it suits them.

i drove before getting my test done - and when the test came around they took me out 10 minutes

When I joined earlier this year I was not allowed to drive until I had been assessed, it took about two months for that.

However, a chap started two weeks after me and was put straight on a rural.

Make of that what you will!

No changeover required if driving CDV vans?

If you do the CDV training, does it also permit you to drive the larger Ford Transit type vans if needed?
