Leaving the Union

For all those posters who say they will leave the CWU -

1. Wouldn't it be better to wait and see what has been achieved (or not) before taking such a decision?
2. What do you hope to achieve?
3. Won't destroying the union from within be to the benefit of RM and to the detriment of the workers?
4. Will you be happy to see the end of trade union representation in your workplace?

But I'm due to retire in 8 years will a decision have been made or will we still be getting extensions and tight lips????

It's mostly just understandable frustration,not really based on logic and when most members calm down a bit they are unlikely to leave but it is worrying how easily members can let their emotions get the better of them and make bad decisions.

It's time for a change,leadership/direction/structure pick one,any two from three or all of them.

just phone pay roll they will stop it from there thats all u have to do

Without the union you'd not get sick pay, you'd be on minimum wage, years of good work by the union got us the pay and terms we have now. As Royal Mail always want to change things the union have to make sacrifices. Seriously if the union packed up ad left you'd regret it big time, you think the managers are bad now. Having a union covers your back if you ever get in trouble, that's why I pay my subs, I don't base it on agreements but to know that they have my back day in day out.

I left after the 2010 agreement,I was getting really wound up with the direction the cwu hierarchy were taking us.Its not the same union I'd been a proud member of for 20+ years.When I joined there was a real unity in the job and mutual support,this has more or less evaporated over time with the majority now mostly runners and carve up kings,who only pay there subs coz there s**t scared of getting sacked. For most they should stay in the union,its just for my own pesonal sanity I had to get out

As much as the leadership are not instilling any faith in their ability to be in the job it would be silly to weaken the union at this time by leaving it and very short-sighted for people to leave on mass.
That of course has been the objective from day one and the primary reason for Moya Greene being here in the first place. Love them of hate them at the moment. WITHOUT THEM WE WILL ALL BE SCREWED EVENTUALLY.

I won't leave the union but it would be nice if we had some options when you originally join.
For example: do you agree to payments to a political party? Nope so minus 50p per week, do you agree to a greggs loyalty card for union bosses? Nope minus £3.2 million per year
I can understand everyones frustration when money's getting so tight and you hear of union bosses getting paid out for unused holidays and being paid a wage us poor folk could only dream of, while our pay rise barely cover the union dues.
I will wait its just driving me crazy I just hope all this waiting isn't a massive let down and another shafting for delivery staff.

I'm also waiting to point out back pay to april isn't included in the new deal.

I know, I couldn't understand why the last one got voted in.

Well I'm all for changing the structure etc of the union and I'm just as sure it's not going to come from within because there is just too much vested interest to keep things as they are.

So how do we go about changing things short of leaving the union?
